Why China leads the way??

One of the biggest ongoing debates of 21st century is which continent would carry the day and emerge out as the most powerful and robust one at the end. Though most of you would say that Asia is the one which is going to lead the future but I believe that the topic of the debate itself is wrong. In this age of belligerence and singularity no one can even think that a continent would move up taking all the nations together and hence it is all actually about “a nation” rather than being about a continent and according to me “China” holds the key to the future.
United States of America and Japan have seen their best days, are currently undergoing their good days but the recent declines in their mammoth economies and the downfall in their overall global positions clearly signify that these two big giants of the world are no longer the ones who can emerge out as “The Great” at the end of 21st century and more or less the whole western world is going through the same condition. Talking about Asia, there is a competition between India and China (not a tough one) in the terms of growth, economy and power. Though both the nations have extreme prowess, great work power (owning to their huge population), and great space for development but surely the management in both the nations is different and in that terms, talking about current circumstance China is far too better than India.
In the year 1987 China had a GDP of 270.4 billion USD while India had a GDP of 283.9 billion USD but if we look on the contemporary measures then China is having a GDP of 9.24 billion USD and India ends up at 1.877 trillion USD. From the year 1987, both the nations had same things, same condition but still China underwent such a huge growth while India didn’t. Why?
The answer to the aforementioned question lies in two important things. The first is fear. China follows a policy of communism which India follows a policy of democracy. In China a growth failure or decline can even lead to death of the communist party there but in India economy’s decline can do nothing rather than making you rest for five years and hence politicians, bureaucrats etc. hardly tried to reform the nation in the fields of manufacturing, development etc. besides having such a huge workforce, potency for development. By this I don’t that communism is better than democracy but surely in Chin, Communism has left the government there with only two choices “Do or Die” and hence China has really matured into a great economy of the world.
China has not only improved in terms of economy but it has reformed in all sectors, national security, healthcare etc. but the growth in these sectors too is a result of Chinese economic growth and Chinese economic growth is nothing but manifestation of its manufacturing sector.
China realized it pretty earlier that western nations have technology but not workforce and China has workforce but not technology, so China innovatively combined the two things together and the product is “Made in China”. Even the gadget with which you would be reading this post would have been most probably made in China. China reformed its manufacturing sector pretty well. Where in India there are so much hindrances, red tapes to do business, on the other hand in China business has been made pretty well and that’s the reason why world’s biggest corporate companies want to make in China. China is giving them cheap labour force and companies are really enjoying it. This leads to a mutual benefit for both. People in China are getting huge employment opportunities while companies are getting their work done at a much lower price. Due to decreasing rate of unemployment more and more Chinese people are coming out of poverty line (actually not by taking poverty line down) and all in all the whole nation is progressing up.
Though Mr. Modi has also proposed this type of strategy but because China has been using it since 1987, it has already set its steps in the area and it would be pretty difficult to beat it up and hence China appears to be the sole winner of the century but still India too carries a lot of potential. India today too has a great and huge workforce craving for work. We need to do the same today what China did years back and results would surely be great. Let’s see if our system is able to do it or not.

Devastating state of Delhi.

A significant number of days or I should say months have passed away since Mr. Arvind Kejriwal was inaugurated as the Chief Minister of Delhi and as per his promise he has indeed changed Delhi. He has actually transformed the whole state. Sans any skepticism now, he is really a guy who can induce a change in the system. Mr. Kejriwal has really changed the system by making it worse and adding fuel to fire to the grievance of Delhiites. He has really changed it all.
Since day one when Mr. Kejriwal took oath as the Chief Minister, he has been able to reign properly neither his own party nor the state of Delhi. For a couple of starting days around 10-15 days, the Chief Minister was absent. Mr. Kejriwal went away to Bangalore to get some medical treatments and while his absence both Delhi as well as AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) were completely torn apart. A stint of stings exposed the party and lucidly made it clear to all that the party hardly has any democracy about which it boasts out in the media. The stings also disclosed to the people of Delhi that Kejriwal has made a fool out of them. The man who confidently said that he was completely opposed to take support from any other party which making government in Delhi is heard (in the audio sting) to be craving to take support from Indian National Congress’ MLA’s in Delhi in the previous assembly elections and amusing just as the tape came out AAP’s spokespersons said that it was just a measure of political realignment and all the parties do it. On one AAP boasts of being somewhat of a miracle and revolutionary and on the other hand in reality they are being a bandwagon by following other and also scoundrel by hiding the actual truth.
The next big thing that came out of the sting was that Mr. Kejriwal who projects himself as a worshipper of secularism, was himself trying to carry out in-toto communalism. In a tape of his conversation with one of his party’s leaders he blatantly blurts out that there is no need to give any candidature ticket to muslims because they, owning to fear can go nowhere than resorting to vote for AAP. Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid had also told the media that he endorsed Kejriwal only after AAP leader got in touch with him and asked him for his support. Something that deserves your attention is that AAP could win such a big tally in Delhi election just because of the muslim votes they garnered up.
After the troublesome period of stings for Mr. Kejriwal, party’s three big leaders Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan and Shanti Bhushan hailed the next turmoil. A letter written to AAP by Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan was made public and it was completely revealed that AAP faces a complete dearth of democracy. Nobody except Kejriwal has the right to take any decision or to become head of party’s any committee.
While all these things were happening, the one who bear the actual brunt of all such things is the state of Delhi. Corporation in Delhi (MCDs) have not been funded for almost a month. Its responsibility of the state government to fund all these corporations but Mr. Kejriwal has refuted to do so and in an act of utter stupidity has asked the corporation to demand funds from Central government. People working in these corporations have not got their salaries for around two months and have resorted to “dharnas”. The waste pickers have started messing the whole state dumping wastes openly on roads to portray their resentment to Delhi government.
Now Mr. Kejriwal doesn’t talk about CCTV cameras which he promised would be installed all over Delhi, now he doesn’t want to talk about women safety, now he doesn’t want to talk about opening new universities all over Delhi, now he doesn’t want to talk about giving free Wi-Fi to all. Why is now Mr. Kejriwal silent on such crucial issues?
His such a poor performance as Delhi’s CM has compelled the state that it has made a wrong decision, a wrong choice. What we have to see in future is how many more turmoils are to be uncovered in the coming future.

Life will hit you hard.

Life is actually a race,
Where you meet people with so many different face,
Where betrayal would prevail,
Many a times those whom you trust with life will hail,
Your life's worst gale,
Where those whom you love more than yourself,
Will look for themselves,
And those you thought would make you fail,
Will help you sial,
Through the harshest times of your life,
Life is sometimes an infidel wife,
Which is never going to leave you away,
Nor is it going to make way,
For you to be at peace,
Many a times your patience might recede,
Intolerance may it at its helm,
But don't quit no matter how much rocky the path gets,
Believe in yourself as everything will itself get set,
When the going gets tough,
The toughs get going,
You just need to carry on,
One day yielding to your strength every trouble would be gone,
Life will hit you hard,
But standing up or continue to moan is in your hand,
At last your dedication, perspiration and experiences will prove to be your magic wand...

Confronting TB on World Tuberculosis Day..

World TB Day
Today on 24th March, World Tuberculosis Day is being observed throughout the world with the message Reach, Treat, Cure everyone. The World Tuberculosis Day is celebrated every year on 24th Day of March to commemorate the day on which Robert Koch discovered TB Bacillus, the bacteria which causes tuberculosis.
TUBERCULOSIS.
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which most commonly affects the lungs. It is transmitted from person to person via droplets from the throat and lungs of people with the active respiratory disease.

TB is the second biggest killer next only to HIV/AIDS worldwide. In 2013, 9 million people fell ill with TB and 1.5 million died. In case of India, one person dies every two minutes due to this disease.

Current Scenario of TB in India.
Talking about India, our nation is seriously afflicted with this deadly disease taking on its hold around two to three million people and stands among the biggest health problems being faced by the countrymen. According to World Health Organisation (WHO) the incidence of tuberculosis cases in India is 2.2 million out of the total incidence of 8.7 million cases worldwide. Tuberculosis is one of the biggest health disasters in India and the drug resistant tuberculosis hunts down thousands of people every year.
According to WHO, India has world’s largest tuberculosis epidemic. Around the whole nation tuberculosis slays down thousands of people because of lack of awareness as well as the treatment among the people. Even in some rural areas, this ailment has become a stigma and the person afflicted with the disease is ostracized as if the patient has committed a crime. As the nation still lacks an effective program to confront the disease and to spread awareness about the disease, the nation continues to lose a significant portion of its population every year due to tuberculosis. According to an estimate of the year 2013, the country lost 5.5 lakh people during the whole year which itself makes this deadly disease one of the biggest concern of our health care sector in which current 15 lakh people are officially registered as the prey of tuberculosis.
Confronting with TB
In May 2014, Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which most commonly affects the lungs.

TB can be completely cured if proper and regular medication is taken. What we need to do is to spread awareness among those who know nothing or very less about the disease and to convince them to take proper medication for the problem. Though the government has established many centres for treatment of this disease but still lack of awareness continues to kill lakhs of people every year and now is the high time when we commence taking stiff actions against the problem or we would end up to be in huge disaster.

Caste based reservation:A curse..

Recently in a landmark judgment the honorable Supreme Court of India quashed the reservation given to the “Jat” community in the jobs concerning central or union government.

Actually the Jats were given reservation by the UPA government last year by including them in the OBC (Other Backward Classes) category but the apex court of the nation slammed the Centre’s decision to overlook the report of an OBC panel which lucidly stated that “Jats” cannot be included in the central list of the OBC category. The Supreme Court clearly stated that only caste cannot be the sole factor in determining the backwardness of people pertinent to that community and hence Jats cannot be given reservation just because of a minority category.

Actually the landmark judgment by the Supreme Court stands justified. For long parties have been including various castes in the OBC category just to help them get reservation under the Mandal commission recommendations on OBC reservations. Not only UPA but even NDA government too supported the reservations of Jat just to garner a vote bank for them too in states like Haryana etc. where there is a large population of people from Jat communities.

Actually the whole concept of reservation that is prevalent in India is somewhat misunderstood by people and hence is always deliberately misinterpreted by the government in order to make as much vote banks as they want. If we look on the real meaning of reservation then reservation was meant to be given to poor only. Our constitution makers after ingeniously mulling over the matter reached over the conclusion that only those people who have till now not got full benefits of the things they are entitled to as the citizens of the nation must be the beneficiaries of reservation and according to me after 67 years of independence, castes can’t tell whether a person is poor or rich.

Even today many people continue to get reservation on the politics drafted back in 1950s but surely India is not the same today, India has undergone so much progress but financially and socially that considering the old school values to fit correctly today makes no sense but still our politicians continue to make the old laws carry on just to strengthen up their vote banks and to secure their place to the parliament, no matter how many people are being affected badly with it.

After independence, reservation was given to the “Shudra” the lowest class in the Indian caste system and it was utmost correct because they were the once who suffered most before independence but even today the things remain same. Even after becoming so much powerful economically and socially we still continue to give reservation to castes just because they suffered before independence. Isn’t this completely stupid to do so?
If the government is willing to give reservation, give it to those who really need it, the pauper people. Who can guarantee that a Brahmin in today’s era can’t be a poor guy and a Shudra can’t be a millionaire but according to our laws, the Brahmin would never get any reservation but those who were destined to take it in the 1950s would surely get it no matter even if they are counted among the richest personalities of the nations or the biggest politicians in the country.

Those who are currently the beneficiaries of reservation use it and become successful but then again this thing doesn’t stop here, their children use it and move up and the chain carries on but on the other hand those who are not entitled to it continue to reach the nadir. Today children from wealthy parents despite of scoring low marks get easy admission in universities, easily get their jobs but children (those not entitled to take up the benefit of reservation) despite of hailing from impoverished families and scoring high marks lose out on admissions and jobs. What’s their fault? Aren't they Indians or are they born with some superhuman powers? These nasty politicians continue to exploit the whole nation on the basis of this thing.
And now even a new trend has come up. Those who are not getting reservation come on street, block roads and trains, even set public properties ablaze and forcefully ask for reservation despite of not being impoverished. This is in itself a new form of extortion which first the government too wants to give out willfully because it is getting more votes from people from this community and if Supreme Court passes ruling against such discrimination, government to woo the community would try to reverse the law in parliament.

And after such things our politicians, our government say that India is moving ahead and is not behind any other nation. First we divided nation on the basis of religion, now we dividing on basis of caste. If we continue to play like puppets in hands of politicians one day we would not exist to even divide. In fact, this is so much stupidity by NDA as well as UPA government that such things are allowed to function up. Mr. Modi talks of making India a vibrant economy but on the other hand his government supports things like “reservation on castes”. On one hand Mr. Modi talks of making Indian a global economy and on the other hand his government silently supports “reservation on basis of caste”. Same with the congress government that ended up last year. I ask them, what’s the fault of those people who belong from upper caste, are poor, intelligent, deserving but lose out on jobs from those who are not as intelligent as them but richer and from lower caste. I don’t mean to saw that those from lower castes secure places in college; jobs etc. just on the basis of their caste and are otherwise nothing. There are many people from lower caste who have been great in various fields and actually those who really deserve don’t need a reservation to carry on and reservation is actually used by those who do not deserve.
In today’s era nobody can say that you are rich because you are a member of upper caste and you are poor because you belong to lower caste and hence reservation on caste must be banned and if the government still want to continue it, then it’s nothing less than an act of stupidity not expected from our leaders who represent us globally.

BORN TO WIN

If you die today,
Will you be a person whom others would love to pray,
Will your greatness, your ideals outlast your age,
Will posterity remember you for the deeds you perform,
Are you the one who can for forever change the norm,
If you quit today, pain would be permanent,
So rather than quitting, in this universe put a dent,
Your life is important,
Because you are born for a purpose,
Which matters more than anything else,
Which must be more important than your family, wife or pals,
If you have got a dream,
If you want to move ahead and gleam,
You need to sweat more than others,
If you want to shine more,
If you want to reach success' door,
Pain, sweat, suffering for you would surely be more,
But don't quit,
Because if you just hang on more for a bit,
You would be on winner's seat,
Its cardinal that you work hard,
And when you want it truly by heart,
You would clinch it up,
You are surely meant to go up,
To reach the top, you have to sacrifice,
Prepare so well that your success surprise,
All those who condemn you today,
All those who hate,
Must be forced to contemplate,
That you are born to win,
Even the thought of defeating you is a sin..

Is NREGA actually worth it???

A few days back Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi averred in parliament that he will never shut down MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Generation Act) because the NREGA scheme is in itself the best described address to Indian National Congress’s (INC) graveyard. Though a lot of people criticized and condemned Mr. Modi’s remark saying that this was indeed a derogatory remark against poor people in the nation but I believe that his remarks stand justified.
The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005 (or, NREGA No 42) was later renamed as the "Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act" (or, MGNREGA), is an Indian labor law and social security measure that aims to guarantee the 'right to work'. It aims to ensure livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.
Starting from 200 districts on 2 February 2006, the NREGA covered all the districts of India from 1 April 2008. The statute is hailed by the government as "the largest and most ambitious social security and public works programme in the world". In its World Development Report 2014, the World Bank termed it a "stellar example of rural development".
The MGNREGA was initiated with the objective of "enhancing livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in a financial year, to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work". Another aim of MGNREGA is to create durable assets (such as roads, canals, ponds, wells). Employment is to be provided within 5 km of an applicant's residence, and minimum wages are to be paid. If work is not provided within 15 days of applying, applicants are entitled to an unemployment allowance. Thus, employment under MGNREGA is a legal entitlement.
NREGA scheme was actually started by UPA government headed by Indian National Congress and is counted among the biggest achievement of this coalition government. Even during the whole Lok Campaign of 2014, Congress had nothing to say in public except for their RTI (Right to Information) and NREGA.
Though most of the people around the nation continue to believe that NREGA is actually a successful scheme with innovative method to prove employment to people as it guarantees a 100 day employment to the unemployed people but still a fraction believes that this is nothing short of a disaster and hence should be discarded as soon as possible.
Though its true that NREGA has been able to give employment to people from rural areas but the latter people’s view can also not be quashed away as absurd.
First of all NREGA has been a disaster in its execution state. According to the scheme people who want to work but are not getting employed will be given a 100 day employment and on the basis of that wages would be given to them but actually at the grass root level village’s sarpanchs or the authorities take away all the money which was supposed to be given to the beneficiaries who have actually worked. This is in itself a big scam where village authorities exploit unlettered village men who were employed through the scheme and hence in also 95% cases the actual people to whom the money was meant to be given, never get the total sum of money which is their right.
The second biggest problem with NREGA is that it is a wicked policy of government. The scheme is a complete fiasco because it doesn’t contribute to any national progress. Even after 67 years of independence, people from rural areas are meant to dig up holes etc. under the scheme which doesn’t contribute in the nation building progress. NREGA was sought to be a measure to control poverty but the way the policy has been carved out completely fails on this aspect because through NREGA you are feeding people for 100 days for the work they carry out but nothing is done to “uplift” people from poverty. They continue to suffer and remain below the poverty line and at last the result is nothing. People are just given 100 days employment and after that whatever happens to them is of least concern to the government.
As NREGA contributes almost nothing to uplift people above poverty line, it really contributes nothing to extenuate problems being faced by poor people and therefore it is actually a botched up scheme.
We can’t say that NREGA has been a complete disaster because 100 days employment is a big deal for poor people (if they actually get their wages) but it would also be wrong to call it a great scheme as nothing has been incorporated in the scheme to make it contribute in national empowerment.
Now its one you whether you consider it great, mediocre or rubbish.

MR. Kejriwal exposed......

A really hustle has been there for a while in Indian politics when it was unearthed that those who claim the proprietorship of honesty and integrity are indeed completely drowned in the sea of misrepresentation of things, dishonesty and above all breaking the faith of people.

In his two inauguration speeches, both the times Mr. Kejriwal said to the people of Delhi that whenever a public officer demands bribe or kick back to do something, make a “setting” with him record the conversation and send it to Mr. Kejriwal and he will bring the perpetrators to justice.

But just as Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan and Shanti Bhushan were discarded away from the party’s Political Action Committee (PAC), a former party MLA came up with an audio of his conversation between him and Arvind Kejriwal, AAP party chief in which Kejriwal is asking him to compel six Congress’ MLAs in the previous assembly elections to break out from their party and support AAP from outside so that it could form a stable government. On the other hand, just after the previous elections, first of all Kejriwal had sworn by his children that he will never take support from congress but he did and then he also said that it was party’s decision and he himself didn’t like it but actually according to the tapes released it was Mr. Kejriwal’s own decision to take support from Congress MLAs to become the Chief Minister of Delhi. Hence it stands clearly proved that actually Mr. Kejriwal had lied to the people of the state. His promises to bring about a revolution in Indian politics, his so-called vision in which he said that he wanted to make him party an exemplary one which does the politics of great works not hypocritical speeches; stand completely false and all this prove that Mr. Kejriwal has befooled the people of Delhi..

But how can the proprietor of truth and the one who proclaims that he is the only honest person in India, the one who has the copyright of honesty, in whose eye you are the most corrupt person if you are in an antagonist party but if just in a second you switch over to his party, you are an angel. For such a big hypocrite, such a small breach of trust is almost negligible so, Mr. Kejriwal didn’t settle for this.

In his whole campaign against BJP in the recent assembly elections, he said that BJP is  a communal party and if it is elected, Delhi’s muslims would be at loss, during the last phase of campaigning Mr. Kejriwal also got full endorsement from Shahi Imam of Jama Masjib which he dramatically refused to accept (but actually afterwards Shahi Imam told that Mr. Kejriwal had come to him and asked him to endorse AAP publicly). And now according to one other tape released Kejriwal says that there is no need to distribute tickets to the muslim candidate. They have to vote for AAP because they fear BJP and hence to give them any ticket to contest election would be tomfoolery.

Here is a man who calls others preacher of communalism but he himself says that as muslims fear BJP, they will have to vote for AAP and therefore they don’t need to think about muslims. Who is now the preacher of communalism? Who now wants to divide people on the basis of their religion? The answer is pretty obvious.
Sometimes or in fact all the time I remain rapt with Mr. Kejriwal, neither because I think he is a great leader nor because I consider him extra honest but I am completely overwhelmed by how he befools the innocent people who vote for him, the people whose dreams are actually related with him.

After the tapes its pretty much obvious who is at fault and now just as Kejriwal asks others to resign, it time for him to resign from the post on moral ground.

The India Healthcare system

It’s one of the most astonishing facts of the world that India has a universal healthcare system. Recently I was completely awestruck after reading an international journal of healthcare systems around the world and India was among those nations which guaranteed universal healthcare to its denizens.
Though the aforementioned thing stands theoretically true but its veracity can be easily and assertively challenged on practical terms. There are various government owned hospitals in the nations as well as public sector ones too, but still it would be an embarrassing thing to even say that India guarantees a healthcare system to its citizens. The India healthcare program started in the year 1986 on being endorsed by the government of India and was updated in the year 2002 but still even after 32 years of commencement of Indian healthcare program, we still lag behind in a very much ragged condition.
Despite of being one of the world’s biggest economies, Indian healthcare suffers major lags and glitches. Starting from the beginning, India spends only 3.9% of India’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) on health sector. This amount is lowest among the BRICS ( Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) economies. United States appreciably spends 17.2% on its healthcare and this proportion is biggest expenditure on healthcare by a single nation. Notwithstanding having a population of 1.252 billion we still spends such a meager amount on our healthcare.
The other thing is that the universal healthcare in India boasts of having government hospital providing medication and required facilities at zero or much discounted price but in actuality this belief stands quashed because the real condition through which people at the grass root level suffer in much horrifying.
First of all there are not sufficient number of hospitals to cater the needs of a world’s second largest population. According to Indian government’s statistics there are only 11613 government hospitals in the nation with total bed capacity of 5,40,000 which can be considered almost negligible as compared to 1.252 billion! According to a survey, a staggering 70% of the rural population of India is devoid of healthcare facilities. AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Services) country’s biggest and most advanced hospital is only available 8 locations (Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur, Rishikesh, Haryana) out of which till now the Delhi branch has the amenities to conduct high level and advanced operations. Due to such low availability of number of beds in hospitals throughout the nation, most of the people die owning to the delay in getting treatment. One more grave issue is the quality of services being given in the government hospitals. The doctors in government hospitals have always been alleged of reluctance to do treatment while some  hospitals even don’t provide medication to the patients and due to this thing too many patients have died. If we glance upon previous statistics then the government hospital facilities have been most horrible to poor pregnant women. The women are not given complete care and upright treatment and hence a lot of children die even before they are born in government hospitals. A supreme court judge once even quoted “it better to give birth to a baby in a train’s toilet rather than in a government hospital in India”.
Such lapses in the overall healthcare system has propelled to the domination of Indian healthcare completely by the private sector. The private sector hospitals, through huge investment, have been able to reach various places in India and various specialized treatments are also available in these private sector hospitals only. The hospitals provide much better facilities and amenities than public sector hospitals but the cost for treatment is very much high and almost unimaginable for poor citizens of the country and hence a rich-poor divide has also been constructed in this facet too and most important due to such popularity of the private sector hospitals, many doctors have also migrated from public to private sector ones because of huge salary incentives leaving the public sector hospitals with a humongous dearth of specialists around the nation.
Talking about the health insurance, today only 5% people in the nation are having a health insurance, the rest 95% remain uninsured. And obviously these 95% people are the poor or middle class people of the nation who either don’t want to buy a health insurance or don’t have enough money to buy one. The government too has not shown any interest in this field and hence no proper health care system has ever been evolved, leaving a nation of 1.252 billion people completely uninsured of health.
Health is a pretty cardinal issue and we can never make a compromise on it. Various nations today are spending so much on their healthcare systems but India has always overlooked and snubbed the matter. Therefore today we need to do something about it or else we will end up failing miserably.

Mr. Modi's international visit.

After undergoing a pretty uneasy time here in the nation, Mr. Narendra Modi has gone for a historic international bilateral meeting with three important nations for India in the Indian Ocean region. Mr. Modi started his three island countries visit on Tuesday and would go to Sri Lanka, Seychelles and Mauritius. According to his Foreign Secretary Mr. S. Jaishankar, India has had strong bonds and geographical connectivity with the three nations and Mr. Modi’s meeting is destined to strengthen the bonds between India.

Mr. Modi’s visit to the three nations is a pretty ingenious step towards ameliorating relations with the neighboring states and as these three countries hold a special place in India’s maritime policies aimed at restraining People’s Republic of China from making further expansion in the Indian ocean region.

Sri Lanka has always been an important global state and also means too much for India but due to previous operations of Sri Lanka against LTTE and its huge flouting of human rights during its war against LTTE and therefore India’s ties with Sri Lanka soured completely and hence there was hardly any big level talks between the two nations but now Mr. Modi has surely taken a positive leap towards enhancing the ties between the two nations. His visit is more special too because he would be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Sri Lanka in the last two decades.

Mr. Modi will be in Sri Lanka from 13th-14th March and will unveil some projects made there by India’s assistance.  He is also slated to flag off a train from Talaimannar which has been built with assistance from India. He will also unveil a plaque at Jaffna cultural center and hand over houses to internally displaced people made by India to assist distressed denizens of Sri Lanka. The Prime Minister will also talk to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena during which some crucial arguments are to be signed and will also attend a lunch to be hosted by his counterpart Ranil Wickremsinghe. Prime Minister will also address Sri Lanka’s parliament and will also visit IPKF memorial to pay his homage. During the visit Mr. Modi will also visit leaders of Tamil National Alliance.

In Seychelles Mr. Modi will hold talks with President James Alexi Michel to strengthen maritime ties. Mr. Modi will be second Indian Prime Minister to visit Seychelles after Indira Gandhi.

India recently gave a patrol ship to Seychelles; a 115-island country located 1,500 km east of Southeast Africa. The patrol ship was for the Seychelles Coast Guard to better patrol its extensive Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

Both are likely to ink an agreement to strengthen the energy sector of the Seychelles, an Indian Ocean archipelago of 90,000 people.

The Prime Minister will visit Mauritius on March 11-12 where he will hold intensive meetings with Prime Minister Sir Anerood Jugnauth to further strengthen India's special and unique relations with that country. PM Modi will also address Mauritian parliament.

Besides meeting other political personalities of the island, PM Modi will pay a visit to the Ganga Talao and Apravasi Ghat, both of which are associated with the arrival of the Indian indentured labourers to Mauritius.

He will also visit the Mahatma Gandhi Institute.
During the visit, several Memorandums of Understanding are set to be inked, including an agreement to facilitate sea and air transport.
Though the three countries which Mr. Modi are visiting are not pretty much important if we consider them on the scale of investment etc. but they are pretty important geographical areas in the Indian ocean for India. And what’s the problem in having an amicable neighborhood? The three nations can also help us boost the “Make In India” program pretty well because India can assist these nations in allocating technologies related to maritime security, communication technology etc. to them and this can really help the people in these countries and India can get some good trustworthy partners.
So thumbs up for Mr. Modi’s visit to these crucial neighbours of India.

Future of Democracy in India

Future of Democracy in India

“Democracy must in essence … mean the art and science of mobilizing the entire physical, economic and spiritual resources of all the various sections of the people in the service of the common good of all.”-Mahatma Gandhi

The worthiest minds ever been born to this earth have described democracy as the best and optimum form of government even invented. In the simplest terms, democracy is described as the government of the people, by the people and for the people. The only form of government which establishes people’s participation in all its dimensions. The only form of government which gives the voters the right to ask questions and raise their voice against anything that appears unjust to their perspective. In democratic institutions, the members have complete say in making decisions, choosing their leaders and fighting for their rights. In fact, if we look on to the histories then we find no other form of government but democracy which has ever taken into consideration the principle of parity for all and this principle is in itself the flagship of democracy. It would not be a spurious thing to mention that democracy is currently the most revered and favoured form of government around the world. Today no matter how much progressive a nation is, but if it is not a democratic nation, it is sure to observe detrimental unrest which may even lead to its complete annihilation. A good example of this can be People’s Republic of China. Despite of being world’s second largest economy, only after the United States of America, the nation still deals with humongous disappointment of citizens over the government’s officious attitude and lack of basic fundamental rights etc. being given to them. The “Umbrella Revolution” is Hong Kong also defines the case very well. A huge mob came on road to protest against infringement in their basic fundamental rights (especially the right to choose their representative). The recent revolutions in nations like Egypt and Libya also signify a ground hunger around the world for democracy because with the dawn of literacy, technical and industrial revolutions, people are no longer interested in being dumb listeners but are showing a proclivity to be agile debaters and this is all what defines democracy.

DEMOCRACY IN INDIA

Despite of being a Greek concept, the first traces of democracy is found in India. In Rigveda, one of the most pious documents of Hinduism and probably the oldest piece of literature ever found, states the existence of republican bodies like Sabhas and Samities and even give description of concepts like Panchayat in the state of Magadha. Democracy was indeed embedded into India even before the invention of word “India”.
In India democracy plays an indispensable role. In fact, democracy is that revered concept which has equipped all the denizens of the nation with unbiased laws and statutes, fundamental rights like right to education, right to food etc. Today from a small panchayat election to Lok Sabha elections, every eligible voter has the right to cast his ballot in favour of whosoever he wants and this practice has inculcated a great sense of optimism and positivity in the hearts of the citizens of the nation and has given the denizens a sense of importance and propriety over their own nation.
India is today world’s largest democracy but the journey of the nation to achieve this milestone has never been easy. As I mentioned earlier, the principles of democracy existed in India even thousands of years back, but during the medieval period, when monarchies dominated the nation, people of the nation lost the sense of democracy and this ultimately led to the entry of britishers into the nation. Watching a lack of interest among the people in the decision making processes and weak rulers of the established dynasties, Britishers subdued the nation easily and for 200 more years we bore the brunt of British rule.
After 200 years of fight for freedom, when finally the British rule came to a halt and India was freed from its shackles, the dawn of independence brought with itself the much needed respite of “Democracy” to the Indian citizens and since then we never looked back.

Contemporarily democracy is nothing less than a boon for the denizens of the nation. Democracy in a nation like India, with a population of 1.252 billion, more than 780 languages; proves to be a binding thread for all the people around the nation. Today people of all castes and religions have the right to vote for their representative and even contest the election themselves, leading to participation of people in the political processes from different facets of life. The democracy in India has enabled us to have a Sikh Prime Minister, Muslim President and this is in itself a matter of pride for the whole nation.

Democracy has also led to assimilation of backward people into the main stream. Backward as well as impoverished people today get all those rights that the richest person in the nation holds. This is clear from the fact that our current Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi, who himself hails from a poor family and worked as a tea vendor during his childhood years, stands today as one of the most loved prime minister of the nation ever.

On the other hand democracy has also filliped the process of empowerment of women in the nation. Today even women of the nation are getting tantamount chances and opportunities to be involved in the decision making process of the nation. The 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendment in 1992-93 paved the way for the grassroot women participation in the local bodies. In fact, it’s a thing of great pride that one of our best and toughest prime ministers has been a woman, none other than Smt. Indira Gandhi.

FUTURE OF DEMOCRACY

In India future of democracy continues to be like the two faces of the same coin. Despite of so much achievements and successes in the past, still today we have not evolved as a completely successful and developed economy. Still, a lot of factors continue to act as impediments in our way to achieve success in this field.

Though people of the nation have seen a huge participation in democratic processes and penchant for democracy itself, still there are many factors which restrain us from becoming a paradigm of democracy.

On one hand we see a pretty bright future of democracy. With a literate, technologically savvy generation, which is ready to ask questions and hold their representatives accountable, the prospects of becoming a great democracy are high. But still a large proportion of the populations continue to be unlettered and this facet of Indian populations is completely apathetic and also unaware of the rights and benefits that democracy entitles them. India still continues to fare low in the net literacy rate. A large portion of the nation’s populations is still illiterate and doesn’t know the real value of democracy, and unfortunately the problems like corruption, nepotism, inequitable distribution of resources has exacerbated the problem my making this portion of populations unhappy and vexed at the current system of government in the nation.
This illiterate portion of the populations needs to be mended. Such people need to be told about their rights, their privileges which are guaranteed to them by democracy and these people should also be made about the virtues of democracy which gives them equal opportunities as others and also give them the right to rise their voice against an injustice done to them.

Besides this some candidates misuse their power. Huge sums of money are disbursed out by rich candidate to win elections. Large sums of money are shelled out in order to buy people’s vote and to win elections. Poor people are enticed to vote for one particular candidate by giving them money and this leads to huge cheating in the overall electioneering.
Through such processes rich candidates win elections unfairly thereby killing the spirit of democracy in the nation. Such processes need to be restrained with stiff actions.
Communalism too is a big problem in the elections. People are much like to vote for a person of their own caste rather than a person who can actually carry out progressive work in the area. Due to this factor, many parties have developed their vote banks and these parties take many unjust steps just to make their vote bank happy. Such practices lead to huge polarisation of vote to candidates who don’t deserve to win the elections. Some parties even wrongfully scare people of other parties on the issues of secularism and caste and this too yield huge problems in our way to achieve complete success in the field of democracy.

But still the torch of hope continues to remain alight. Huge participation of people in the recent elections of Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir notwithstanding threats from Maoists and terrorists lucidly exhibit that a large part of our populations has embraced democracy for good. Most of the people in the nation today are enjoy the perks of democracy but we need to still go a long way in order to take the benefits of democracy to each and every citizen of the nation. Though we have been able to prepare a paradigm hardware model of democracy, but our software still remains infected with a number of viruses which if not removed can allocate formidable problems, but still all in all Indian democracy has been, till now a successful experiment and has all the powers needed to emerge as one of the best democratic experiments in the world. What it needs is just some repair work.

AAP's internal turmoil.

Just as the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) sprung back to power after the much awaited Delhi election with an unprecedented voting tally, the party has once again sank into internal turmoil. Rather than focusing on the huge dreams they have restored in the eyes of Delhiites and fulfilling the promises like free public Wi-Fi to all, free water supply, electricity bills slashed to 50%, new universities, better infrastructure and an advanced city, the party men are busy accusing each others and defending their stand.
Just before the elections were to take place, Shanti Bhushan in a public interview accused Kejriwal of transforming the party to a one-man show and also endorsed BJP’s Chief Minister Candidate Kiran Bedi. Though everybody smelled the rat that time too, but in the hustle of elections, no attention was given to the matter, but now again a much more developed campaign against party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has commenced with much more furore.
All the pandemonium started when Prashant Bhushan’s letter to party’s National Executive went public. The letter complained that Kejriwal has himself moulded the party in order to make it a one man party. The letter questioned the necessity of having the Chief Minister as the party chief too. Besides this Mr. Bhushan accused that the party has distorted away from its real path. The party just makes the donations given to it transparent but doesn’t talk about the party’s expenditures on various products. Moreover Mr. Bhushan also expressed his displeasure over party’s way of choosing candidates. He cited the example of Naresh Balyan, AAP’s Uttam Nagar constituency candidate who was caught with huge amount of liquor stored in his house during elections. Despite of this the party leadership took no steps in order to deal with the matter. He also gave example of another party worker who was caught in a video saying that it was right to lure people to vote for the party through unfair means like distributing liquor. Notwithstanding knowing everything Mr. Kejriwal made the person a “Constituency Prabhari”. One of the biggest allegations that came in public’s eye is that the party’s leadership was well aware of the fact that the Rs. 2 crore donations they took were completely bogus. Party’s prominent leader Mr. Yogendra Yadav accused the party leadership of having all the ins and outs of the illegitimate donations made to the party, but still the party went forward to accept the donations.
Just as these allegations were made public, Kejriwal’s loyalists came up in support of Kejriwal by saying that the father son duo of Shanti-Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav have hatched this conspiracy in order to malign the image of Arvind Kejriwal. Dilip Pandey, AAP leader, accused the three of making false and unjust accusations and said that the trio wants to hold the top places in the party and  that’s why had made these allegations.
Now a party meeting has been called up in order to decide the fate of Shanti-Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav but if we look at the gravity of the charges leveled by them on AAP’s leaders, the matter is pretty grave. If we go according to them, the party has seriously flouted all the principles which it boasts about and has surely duped the citizens of Delhi.
