Caste based reservation:A curse..

Recently in a landmark judgment the honorable Supreme Court of India quashed the reservation given to the “Jat” community in the jobs concerning central or union government.

Actually the Jats were given reservation by the UPA government last year by including them in the OBC (Other Backward Classes) category but the apex court of the nation slammed the Centre’s decision to overlook the report of an OBC panel which lucidly stated that “Jats” cannot be included in the central list of the OBC category. The Supreme Court clearly stated that only caste cannot be the sole factor in determining the backwardness of people pertinent to that community and hence Jats cannot be given reservation just because of a minority category.

Actually the landmark judgment by the Supreme Court stands justified. For long parties have been including various castes in the OBC category just to help them get reservation under the Mandal commission recommendations on OBC reservations. Not only UPA but even NDA government too supported the reservations of Jat just to garner a vote bank for them too in states like Haryana etc. where there is a large population of people from Jat communities.

Actually the whole concept of reservation that is prevalent in India is somewhat misunderstood by people and hence is always deliberately misinterpreted by the government in order to make as much vote banks as they want. If we look on the real meaning of reservation then reservation was meant to be given to poor only. Our constitution makers after ingeniously mulling over the matter reached over the conclusion that only those people who have till now not got full benefits of the things they are entitled to as the citizens of the nation must be the beneficiaries of reservation and according to me after 67 years of independence, castes can’t tell whether a person is poor or rich.

Even today many people continue to get reservation on the politics drafted back in 1950s but surely India is not the same today, India has undergone so much progress but financially and socially that considering the old school values to fit correctly today makes no sense but still our politicians continue to make the old laws carry on just to strengthen up their vote banks and to secure their place to the parliament, no matter how many people are being affected badly with it.

After independence, reservation was given to the “Shudra” the lowest class in the Indian caste system and it was utmost correct because they were the once who suffered most before independence but even today the things remain same. Even after becoming so much powerful economically and socially we still continue to give reservation to castes just because they suffered before independence. Isn’t this completely stupid to do so?
If the government is willing to give reservation, give it to those who really need it, the pauper people. Who can guarantee that a Brahmin in today’s era can’t be a poor guy and a Shudra can’t be a millionaire but according to our laws, the Brahmin would never get any reservation but those who were destined to take it in the 1950s would surely get it no matter even if they are counted among the richest personalities of the nations or the biggest politicians in the country.

Those who are currently the beneficiaries of reservation use it and become successful but then again this thing doesn’t stop here, their children use it and move up and the chain carries on but on the other hand those who are not entitled to it continue to reach the nadir. Today children from wealthy parents despite of scoring low marks get easy admission in universities, easily get their jobs but children (those not entitled to take up the benefit of reservation) despite of hailing from impoverished families and scoring high marks lose out on admissions and jobs. What’s their fault? Aren't they Indians or are they born with some superhuman powers? These nasty politicians continue to exploit the whole nation on the basis of this thing.
And now even a new trend has come up. Those who are not getting reservation come on street, block roads and trains, even set public properties ablaze and forcefully ask for reservation despite of not being impoverished. This is in itself a new form of extortion which first the government too wants to give out willfully because it is getting more votes from people from this community and if Supreme Court passes ruling against such discrimination, government to woo the community would try to reverse the law in parliament.

And after such things our politicians, our government say that India is moving ahead and is not behind any other nation. First we divided nation on the basis of religion, now we dividing on basis of caste. If we continue to play like puppets in hands of politicians one day we would not exist to even divide. In fact, this is so much stupidity by NDA as well as UPA government that such things are allowed to function up. Mr. Modi talks of making India a vibrant economy but on the other hand his government supports things like “reservation on castes”. On one hand Mr. Modi talks of making Indian a global economy and on the other hand his government silently supports “reservation on basis of caste”. Same with the congress government that ended up last year. I ask them, what’s the fault of those people who belong from upper caste, are poor, intelligent, deserving but lose out on jobs from those who are not as intelligent as them but richer and from lower caste. I don’t mean to saw that those from lower castes secure places in college; jobs etc. just on the basis of their caste and are otherwise nothing. There are many people from lower caste who have been great in various fields and actually those who really deserve don’t need a reservation to carry on and reservation is actually used by those who do not deserve.
In today’s era nobody can say that you are rich because you are a member of upper caste and you are poor because you belong to lower caste and hence reservation on caste must be banned and if the government still want to continue it, then it’s nothing less than an act of stupidity not expected from our leaders who represent us globally.
