Hong Kong-Go for it.

Today in this world accoutered with extremely ingenious technology, people have commenced voicing their concerns. In this technologically empowered world with internet facility connecting the world, today people have started realizing their vitality in this world. At a time where distances hardly matter, today people have got enough courage to tell the leaders of the world that they can’t achieve anything without their cooperation and that no work can be concluded until and unless people get their say in the work.
Hong Kong also doesn’t hold any different view from the world in this aspect and therefore the “Umbrella Revolution”, protest from the Hong Kong denizens has swept the whole world.

In 1984, a Sino-British Joint Declaration was signed by the United Kingdom and People’s Republic of China which laid down many principles regarding the functioning of the Hong Kong region after the back out of Britishers from the area. In the year 1997, when the Britishers gave up complete control of Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland adopted a policy of “One country, Two Systems” under which Hong Kong would be a Chinese territory but on contrary would enjoy greater liberty and rights than the mainland China. In fact, Hong Kong was also allowed to carry on its policy of “Capitalism” and it was announced that it would be judged by a “Chief Executive” who would be chosen through election or consultation from the Mainland China.

Everything was going on pretty well till the day of 31st August 2014. On this day, the tenth session of Standing Committee in the twelfth National People’s Congress which set the limits for the election of 2016 Legislative Council and 2017 Chief Executive Elections. In the committee’s meeting, it was decided that in the 2017 Chief Executive elections, a special committee(under the complete aegis of Beijing) would be erected in order to nominate a few people for the people, afterwards election would take place under which people would have to choose from these alternatives only and then the victorious Chief-Executive elect will have to be appointed by the Central People’s Government.

This led to a humongous unrest in the whole of Hong Kong whose people had been long vying for a complete democracy. This inconsequential and detestable decision from the People’s Republic of China proved as a support base for the people to unite. The whole Hong Kong therefore launched a mass movement against the Chinese forces on the 27th September 2014 giving the mainland China one of the toughest internal combat thereby scaring even the Chinese officials.

Students from all over the Hong Kong as well as the common people mobilized this huge protest which was non-violent and peaceful, but then China showed its true image when it ruthlessly showered pepper spray and tear gas canisters on the peaceful demonstrators. But see the longing for democracy around the world that this resulted in more and more participation of the people in the protests which have been successful in shaking the whole of the Communist party government.

To make up for all such violence against the people, Chinese foreign minister proclaims that it’s an internal matter of China, but do you really believe in it.  I believe that actually this is a matter for humanity. Desire for universal suffrage and the right to choose one’s representative, is a right that everyone around the world should be entitled to have. Today people of Hong Kong are just protesting for their right to be emancipated from the oppressive Chinese government and just want their basic rights to be established. Isn’t this an issue of humanity rather than being an internal issue of China and moreover the violent crackdown on the people is in itself a great issue too and therefore I believe that today the whole world needs to stand united with the Hong Kong region in its quest for restoration of democracy in the region. I believe that every human being who is born on the earth has the right to choose his leader, has to right to live, the right to vote and the right to protest against anything that doesn’t satisfy him and therefore I believe that the people of Hong Kong must not feel isolated and should be ensured that the whole world stands with them affirmed in their mission to achieve complete independence. I believe that at such an advanced time in the history of the world the expansionist policies and belligerent attitude must not be allowed to soar. I believe that Hong Kong must be given proper support so as to set an example in the world for others to follow. I believe that the right time has come when people from all over the world should be gifted with all their rights and I believe that my this dream would come true.
