Turning a new lease of life in Indo- Nepal relationship.

Narendra Modi’s current visit to Nepal has arisen up to be a huge success. Just as Mr. Modi reached the neighbouring country, India as well as Nepal witnessed the winds of cooperation, friendship and love flowing to and fro in both the nations.

Narendra Modi, the current Prime Minister of India, is currently on his visit to Kathmandu and was given a thumping welcome by the whole of Nepal, which today desperately wants cooperation from global states like India in order to develop into a peaceful country. Notwithstanding witnessing the transition from monarchy to democracy, Nepal still continue to lag behind in most of the sectors due to be torn apart by in-fighting of its political leader which continue to harm the whole of Nepal from inside.

In Nepal the contemporary Prime Minister of India, addressed the whole parliament of Nepal and became the first foreign leader to do so. Modi was hugely lauded for his great oratory skills and the words of wisdom that he spoke in the parliament. Modi played a pretty good move in the parliament of Nepal which was that rather than plunging into Nepali crisis completely and giving Nepal suggestions over forming constitution and distribution of powers in the Nepal’s democracy, Narendra Modi took an initiative to inspire the leaders of Nepal into action and this was extolled very much by the young Nepali generation.

Modi’s visit to Nepal is in itself of great significance globally. The previous governments in India neglected Nepal to a great authority and also showed reluctance to effect a much needed amendment in the 1950 Indo-Nepal treaty of Peace and Friendship which upto this date has become completely redundant. The previous governments hardly showed any alacrity to this nation which at times hardly wanted Indian cooperation. Ultimately, when Nepal’s calls for cooperation were unanswered Nepal move towards China. China found this opportunity of great significance and with humongous happiness started investing in Nepal and from then on the Sino-Nepali relations turned to a new lease of life. From then on China has been exploiting the Nepali nation for its own use and to form a big brother image in Asia and the previous governments at the centre took hardly any notice of this harsh problem which is developing day by day. The present scenario is that today, despite of being geographically connected to India up to a great extent, Nepal still continues to remain far off to a large extent thus giving China complete opportunity to engulf India and therefore sending India at the back foot of the problems.

“You can choose your enemies and friends but you can never choose your next door neighbour.” That’s the problem that India is facing today. Today Nepal continues to be an underdeveloped nation and China continues to sympathise with it and India keeps ignoring this crucial nation, but today the time has come when India strike a harmonious relationship with Nepal which can prove to be a very good and crucial neighbour in the near future for India. But if India continues to ignore this crucial ally then other nations like China can easily exploit this nation thus, threatening Indian neighbourhood and forming an anti-Indian image in the whole of Asia thus promoting anti-Indian sentiments.

Therefore today we need to do something about this problem. Today we need to change the way we perceive our neighbours and we certainly need to strike the much needed change in Indo-Nepal relationship.

Jai Hind, Jai Bharat
Jai ma Bharti
